Stirring up the strategic minds of the players who dares to bet on their desired card set, that’s generally how the  ‘Poker game’ became well-known until the present day. It was claimed to have originated from the regions of Europe, Middle East and China. With it’s rising fame as a mind-boggling game of chance, it rapidly transpired worldwide. The game itself foreshadows varying card games alike that entails diverse systematic methods of gameplay.

     Derivatives of poker underwent a crescendo and among its earliest forms was called ‘Poque’ which was played in the gambling dens of New Orleans. It gained drastic popularity among American Civil War soldiers, and eventually migrated to the western borders. Then the mid-1800s came, and 32 deck of playing cards were added to the first 20 cards. By leaps and bounds, it evolved into a drawing game and to sweeten the pots, money then became involved in the process

     Even after 100 years, the decks and rules of poker have not changed as it became standardized. More so, the popularity of the variety of poker games have embraced series of changes. Yet in the end, the same goal is still intact which is to acquire the best possible five-card poker at hand along with its numerous variants that may subsume a straight path towards the desired victory.

     At first, it was only the five-card draw in the spotlight but then, it veered away from the draw and went towards stud, paved way to the extended seven cards on hand. Subsequently,  split-pot and lowball games were introduced, along with the renown Texas Hold’em, which evolved the game and eventually,  allowing up to 10 players in a single hand with five community cards and two hole cards.

     Furthermore, Texas Hold’em continuously transcended and later on, morphed into three hole cards (Pineapple) and four hole cards (Omaha). Omaha furthered its roots and  branched off into five hole cards games like Big-O and Courchevel. For the past few decades, poker further evolved with the intuition of Badugi ( originated from Korea) and the Open-Face Chinese Poker.

Additionally, there are more games that utilizes poker cards such as:

5-card Stud game- originated from the American Civil War and is one of the most earliest variation of Stud game piker. This is somewhat similar with straight poker in which dealt cards are unchangeable.

Straight poker- The player with the best five-card combination wins the pot.

Crazy Pineapple- a game similar to Texas Hold’em but with three dealt cards face down

Dr. Pepper –  Poker cards 2, 4, and 10 are free cards with 5 dealt cards

Cincinnati –  There are four cards dealt face down with a four-round bet.

To broaden the poker probability perception, always bear this principles in mind:

• There is more than one possible outcome with every deal.

• Such outcomes can be specified yet,

• The game’s outcome totally relies on chance but could be altered if intentionally done.

With the ever-changing course of computer technology along with the advent of the web in the late 20th Century, poker spread like wildfire into the local to international scenes through online poker game sites. This led to a new horizon of  players virtually engaging in it. With such advancement, Poker experts testify that new variations of poker games will soon be introduced as it becomes more famous worldwide.
